John Metchie III held a special night to honor his hospital family

John Metchie III has managed to keep a level head during his treatment for leukemia and wanted to show his appreciation for those around him.

“No matter what situation you’re in, no matter how do you are or how up you up, it’s always a blessing to be able to be a blessing to somebody else,” Metchie said.

The second-round pick for the Houston Texans (44th overall) was able to a be blessing for his hospital family by treating them to a special night at NRG Stadium in Houston.

He gave the group, which included nurses, doctors and some patients, a tour of the facilities and the playing field.

Metchie describes all the of the experiences he had at the hospital interacting with the staff and the patients. There are many beautiful stories shared in the seven-minute video.

“Now I can connect with a whole new community, that is my community and foundation because of what we’ve all went through collectively,” Metchie added.

Metchie is expected to return to the field next season and he’ll surely have a lot of people rooting for his success.
