The Philadelphia Eagles turned to a Georgia Bulldogs alum to help squeak past the Rams on Sunday.
Philadelphia defensive lineman Jordan Davis knocked down a potentially game-winning 44-yard field goal attempt by Rams kicker Joshua Karty – and then picked up the loose football to rumble 61 yards for a touchdown and a 33-26 victory.
“The big man looks for the icing on one big cake,” exclaimed Fox play-by-play voice Joe Davis as Jordan Davis turned on the relative jets with football tucked securely under his right arm.
The big-man TD was the first touchdown in Davis’ 4-year career. The 6-foot-6, 336-pound Davis had also never blocked a kick in the NFL, but he had been in the end zone before Sunday. Davis got 2 carries in his senior season in 2021 at Georgia – including a 1-yard touchdown run against Charleston Southern on Senior Day.
Selected with the 13th overall pick by the Eagles in the 2022 NFL Draft, Davis has been a force for the Eagles in the middle. He entered Sunday with 6 solo tackles and 3 pass deflections and added 4 solo tackles and a sack against the Rams.
