Kalen DeBoer gives injury update on 2 key defensive linemen
Alabama is hopeful to have defensive linemen Tim Keenan and LT Overton back for its quarterfinal matchup against Indiana next week.
Head coach Kalen DeBoer gave an update on their progress during a press conference on Monday afternoon. Keenan is expected to play against the Hoosiers but was “a little bit sore” after the Oklahoma game, per DeBoer.
As for Overton, DeBoer didn’t rule out a return for the Indiana matchup.
“LT, just continuing to monitor him,” DeBoer said. “Definitely not ruling him out right now. We’ll continue to evaluate him and see how things go here in the days ahead.”
If Overton is able to play against Indiana, it would be a big boost for Alabama. According to Pro Football Focus, Overton has played 449 snaps this season and is a big part of Alabama’s pass rush. Per PFF, Overton has the highest pass rushing grade of any Alabama edge rusher.
Alabama will be an underdog against Indiana in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day, according to the latest college football betting lines. Most real money betting apps have Alabama priced as a 6.5-point underdog to Indiana.
Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET on Jan. 1.
