Kentucky has kicked a freshman defensive back off the team.

A UK spokeswoman confirmed on Tuesday that the Wildcats have dismissed defensive back Will Jackson for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

Jackson redshirted during his freshman season after joining the team’s 2015 class late in the recruiting process. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound cornerback, a two-star recruit out of Washington, D.C., was only offered by one other Power 5 school, NC State.

The Wildcats aren’t exactly hurting at the position as the team’s top cornerbacks all return: Chris Westry, Derrick Baity, J.D. Harmon and Kendall Randolph.

Kentucky finished 5th in the SEC in passing defense last season, allowing just 198.1 yards per game.
