Kentucky LB Josh Allen earns Lott IMPACT Trophy Player of the Week honor for third time this year
Josh Allen doesn’t need any more accolades to cement himself as one of the best defensive players in the country, but they keep coming in anyway.
Kentucky’s senior linebacker was named the Lott IMPACT Trophy Player of the Week for the third time this season, it was announced Tuesday. Allen is the first player to win the award three times in a season since Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o did so in 2012.
Allen compiled a career-high 15 tackles, including two tackles for loss and a pair of sacks, as the Wildcats beat Middle Tennessee 34-23 last Saturday. He’s tied for first nationally this season in forced fumbles (five), third in sacks (13) and 10th in tackles for loss (17.5).
The senior owns the program sacks record with 27.5, a mark he can extend in No. 17 Kentucky’s regular-season finale against Louisville at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday.
Marcus covers SEC football for Saturday Down South.
