No. 12 Georgia earned an impressive 35-14 victory vs. visiting Kentucky on Saturday. However there’s still injury issues along the offensive line that the Bulldogs have to endure.
Georgia head coach Kirby Smart provided an update on 2 injured offensive linemen. Smart confirmed that junior left tackle Monroe Freeling sustained an ankle injury during the victory vs. the Wildcats. Smart also said that senior left guard Micah Morris, who popped his shoulder on Saturday which temporarily forced him out of the game, is also dealing with a hamstring injury from last week.
“They’re a mash unit,” Smart said, referring to Georgia’s injury issues along the offensive line.
The 6-foot-7, 315-pound Freeling was a preseason All-SEC Third-Team selection by Athlon Sports. Last season, Freeling appeared in every Georgia game and made 4 starts.
The 6-foot-4, 330-pound Morris earned an All-SEC Fourth-Team nod from Athlon Sports. Morris played in 12 games last season for the Bulldogs with 5 starts.
Georgia has had to cycle through its depth on the offensive line. The Bulldogs have started 5 different offensive line permutations this season because of various injuries.
Next up for Georgia is a road matchup at Auburn in Week 7 on Oct. 11.
