On Saturday ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit sounded off on the incident, sparring with fans on Twitter – one of whom particularly drew his ire.
The argument here centers around the level of respect exhibited by fans and players after the final whistle has blown. Though many fans are loyal to the core, Herbstreit points out that actions like the one in Tuscaloosa go against the intentions and class of the schools that fans support. Herbie’s bottom line was that fans and players should respect each other, especially when representing their university.
