When the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 teams all go down on the same night, it’s to be expected that the College Football Playoff rankings will be shaken up a bit.

ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit listed his new top four on TV last night after a wild day of college football action.

Though No. 1 Alabama held on to its top spot with a big win, No. 2 Clemson dropped to No. 4 with a loss to Pitt and No. 3 Michigan and No. 4 Washington fell out of the rankings after losses to Iowa and USC, respectively.

In their place, Herbstreit moved Ohio State to No. 2 and Louisville to No. 3:

Now the Ohio State-Michigan game looms even larger. Whichever team wins has a solid shot at the College Football Playoff, while the loser will basically be eliminated.

The Iron Bowl lost some of its luster this week as well, with No. 9 Auburn falling to Georgia in Athens.
