Kirk Herbstreit shares his top team performances from Week 1 of 2021 season

Some top teams play easier opponents in the first week of the college football season. Not Georgia.

The Bulldogs opened the 2021 campaign with a top-5 matchup against Clemson on Saturday night in Charlotte. These are a pair of programs that are currently among the best in the nation, and the winner was quickly going to have an impressive victory on its College Football Playoff résumé.

That ended up being Georgia, which relied on its dominant defense to pull out a 10-3 win. The Bulldogs are now ranked No. 2 in the AP Top 25 poll after the victory.

They also impressed ESPN broadcaster Kirk Herbstreit, who listed Georgia among his list of the top performing teams from the opening week of the 2021 season. No surprise there.

Here’s Herbstreit’s full list from Week 1:

UCLA earned its spot on this list with a 38-27 home win over LSU on Saturday night. The Bruins amassed 470 total yards and pulled away late to take down the Tigers.
