With a game against Vanderbilt on Saturday looming, the Tennessee Volunteers will be practicing on Thursday.

However, when practice is over, players will have time to celebrate Thanksgiving with teammates and family members.

Since many members of the team won’t be able to go home, though, local Vols like OL Brett Kendrick will host their teammates for dinner, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel:

“It usually starts with about five or six players, and then Brett will call and ask if we have enough food so he can bring another teammate or two,” Beth Kendrick said Monday. “The answer is always ‘For sure. Come on over.’ We have never run out of food before.”

Coach Butch Jones will also get in on the holiday spirit and have players over to his house for dinner:

“I know we will have a bunch of players to our house for Thanksgiving and a lot of players who can’t go home will stay in this area and they will go to other players’ houses as well,” Jones said Monday. “We want them to enjoy that camaraderie and that family environment and then we come back and it’s a normal Friday for us.”

When the Vols get back to work on Friday, they’ll be working toward a potential Sugar Bowl bid. However, they need to avoid an upset at the hands of in-state rival Vanderbilt on Saturday.

The Vols and Commodores will square off at 6:30 p.m. Central time on Saturday night. The game can be seen on the SEC Network.
