Landon Collins happy to be back with Giants, says team’s former GM did not want him

Landon Collins is back with the New York Giants and that’s where the safety wanted to be all along.

But when Collins hit free agency a few years ago the Giants let him walk and sign a six-year, $84 million contract with then Washington Redskins/Football Team.

Collins put the blame for that on former Giants GM Dave Gettleman (via ProFootballTalk):

“I wanted to stay but Gettleman didn’t want me here. So I had to take my chances somewhere else,” Collins told the New York Daily News.

Collins did not replicate his All-Pro form in Washington and injuries occasionally kept him out of the lineup. But the former All-American and second-round pick (33rd overall in the 2015 Draft) from Alabama, promises that he’ll be back to his old self for his second stint with the Giants.

“I’m still a baller, and I love this game. It’s definitely humbling coming from when you’re the top [guy] and now you’re back to ground one.”
