Landon Sims announces plans for rest of season following elbow injury

Landon Sims suffered a serious elbow injury earlier this season, and on Monday, the star pitcher for Mississippi State announced his plans for the rest of the season.
“Unfortunately, I will be undergoing surgery on a torn UCL this week and will miss the remainder of my junior season,” Sims wrote on social media. “Although this is not the way I wanted my season, and possibly Bulldog career, to end. I know it is part of a bigger plan that might sometimes be hard to understand, but I know I will always find myself going down the path I am supposed to be on.”

Less than 2 weeks ago, Sims left a game against Tulane with an injury in the 4th inning. The junior right-hander has a 1.15 ERA in 2022, posting a statline of 15.2 IP, 11 H, 5 R, 2 ER, 27K. Sims had retired all 11 batters faced in the Tulane game, and struck out 10.
Sims in 2021 appeared in 25 games as a reliever/closer for the Bulldogs, and posted a 5-0 record with a 1.44 ERA and 13 saves in 56.1 innings. He allowed 9 runs (all earned) and 29 hits, while he struck out 100 and allowing just 15 walks on the season, as hitters had a paltry .149 average against him.
