Lane Kiffin won’t be coaching the Ole Miss Rebels this weekend when they host the Tulane Green Wave in the first round of the College Football Playoff, but that isn’t stopping him from engaging in a bit of online trolling prior to kickoff.
Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry and Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves have been engaged in some friendly banter for the better part of a month, dating back to when Kiffin announced his departure from Ole Miss for LSU.
Tate renewed the banter on Friday, replying to an earlier tweet from Landry by bringing up the fact that the only team to make the 12-team playoff from the state of Louisiana is Tulane, and they’ll be playing in the state of Mississippi this weekend. Seeing a golden opportunity to stir the pot, Kiffin chimed in his typical tongue-in-cheek manner.
Lane Kiffin departed Oxford to take the head coaching job at LSU several weeks back, and he left a ton of bitter feelings in his wake from the Ole Miss faithful, who naturally felt betrayed by their former head coach.
The entire exchange that Kiffin jumped in on between the 2 governors actually started when Reeves made a tweet saying that the world needs less of Lane Kiffin following his departure from the Rebels’ program.
Knowing Kiffin, this was just to good not to pass up on, and the new head coach of the Bayou Bengals took the layup and delivered yet another classic tweet.
