No. 4 Ole Miss held on for a 24-21 victory vs. visiting Washington State on Saturday to improve to 6-0. However, Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is taking responsibility for what he deems to be a poor performance in the win.

Washington State led for most of the first 3 quarters before Ole Miss took the lead for good with a pair of touchdowns provided by quarterback Trinidad Chambliss. Chambliss’ 17-yard run and the PAT gave Ole Miss a 17-14 lead. Then a 35-yard pass from Chambliss to Cayden Lee and the PAT extended the advantage to 24-14.

Kiffin was disappointing with the sluggish start for the early afternoon game.

“Number one goal as a program is to go 1-0 every week, but outside of that, just not really pleased with how we played today. It’s on me,” Kiffin said. “Maybe I have to do better at these 11 A.M. kicks, but credit to them as well. But not to our standard.”

An ugly win still counts in the standings though and this keeps Ole Miss squarely in the mix for the SEC Championship Game. Next up for Ole Miss is a massive SEC road game at No. 10 Georgia on Oct. 18 (3:30 p.m. ET/ABC).
