Lincoln Riley held a streak of 48 consecutive weeks being ranked in the College Football Playoff poll, dating back to his days at Oklahoma. Riley only trailed Alabama head coach Nick Saban, who has never dropped out of the CFP poll since it first came out in 2014.

Riley’s broken streak comes as a result of USC losing 3 out of its last 4 games, with the lone win coming in a 50-49 barn burner against California. The Trojans fired defensive coordinator Alex Grinch earlier this week after his unit allowed Washington to score 52 points in the Huskies’ win in Los Angeles last Saturday.

With a playoff berth now well out of sight, Riley and Co. will now be looking to re-enter the CFP poll and play spoiler in their final two games against No. 6 Oregon (road) and rivals UCLA (home).

Saban’s streak does not appear to be coming to an end anytime soon, and it begs the question of if any coach will ever be able to accomplish such a feat.
