Five-star, dual-threat quarterback Justin Fields, the nation’s top overall prospect for the class of 2018, was spotted in Baton Rouge with LSU head coach Ed Orgeron before the Tigers’ home opener against Chattanooga on Saturday.
Fields, an Atlanta native, was scheduled to make his official visit with the Tigers this weekend after talking with numerous other schools over the past few months. He decommitted from Penn State in the spring.
Fields told ESPN this week that he has heard from LSU more than any other school, so the Tigers obviously are quite interested. This season will be current starter Danny Etling’s last run at LSU. The door would likely be open for Fields to come in and immediately battle for the starting job.
Offensive coordinator Matt Canada has been recruiting Fields. This weekend trip to Baton Rouge is his first official visit.
