Ole Miss DB Jaylon Jones had a breakout performance in Week 1 of the season, returning a kick for a touchdown against Texas Tech.
However, later in the game, Jones left with a knee injury, and on Monday, the Rebels’ fears were confirmed — a torn ACL.
On Monday evening, Jones tweeted about the news, saying he’s bummed out, but will fight to return as soon as possible:
Mixed emotions throughout these 2 days, hoping it was all a dream… This is real. I know not to question God, this is part of the journey. Thank you to everyone that sent prayers up. All that energy is contagious, ThreeOne will be back activated soon? #GodSpeed pic.twitter.com/lrMYuEXcky

Jones’s speed was evident against the Red Raiders, and if he’s able to return for next season, he’ll be a big boost for a team that will once again be eligible for postseason play.
For now, though, it’s a big loss for the 2018 Rebels.
