Pictures of the end zones for Saturday’s season opener between Tennessee and West Virginia emerged on Twitter on Friday, and Vols fans were not pleased with what they saw.
Tennessee fans are used to seeing a checkerboard end zone. However, they saw something different in these pictures from Bank of America Stadium.

The matchup between Tennessee and West Virginia is a Belk College Kickoff game, hence why it’s being played at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, home of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers.
The Panthers always have black end zones, so perhaps that’s why there’s no checkerboard for the Vols.
However, Tennessee fans still voiced their displeasure on Twitter. Here’s what some had to say:
I’ll be totally honest, that end zone is ugly but as long as Tennessee scores plenty of touchdowns on Saturday, who really cares what the end zone looks like?

Belk Bowl trying to clap back and they couldn’t even give the Tennessee end zone a checkered board. #ComeOnMan

Just leave the end zone blank and put Tennessee there in orange. It’s pretty easy. Saves ya some paint.

#Tennesseetwitter has found the first enemy of the new season. Its who ever at #BelkKickoff decided to write out #Tennessee in Orange on black instead of O&W checkerboard!#Vols
