Louisville will be without an offensive threat when it opens the season against Alabama on Sept. 1. — and for the rest of the year.

The Cardinals announced on Monday that running back/fullback Tobias Little sustained a knee injury and is likely to miss the entire season. Little was projected to be the team’s starting fullback and also get carries.

Last season, Little had nine carries for 27 yards. But the redshirt sophomore may have had a larger role this season, had it not been for the injury.

Little is Louisville’s most experienced fullback, so now the Cardinals will need to find a way to fill that void before their opener against the Crimson Tide.

Louisville and Alabama open the season at a neutral site — Camping World Stadium in Orlando — on Sept. 1.
