The Brian Kelly era at LSU is on the verge of coming to an end, according to a report. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported on Sunday evening that Kelly learned his fate earlier in the day.

LSU has called a team meeting set for Sunday night to tell the players about the decision with Kelly, per Thamel. In what’s expected to be Kelly’s final game at LSU, the Tigers lost 49-25 vs. Texas A&M.

LSU has lost 3 of its last 4 games. The 64-year-old Kelly is due $54 million in buyout money.

Here’s how social media is reacting to the news about Kelly:

Many LSU fans apparently are going to get their wish as they were calling for Kelly to be fired during the loss to Texas A&M. Kelly has won 9+ games in each of his first 3 seasons at LSU. However, the expectations Baton Rouge is to win the SEC and capture national championships, which Kelly has yet to accomplish.

The schedule won’t get any easier for LSU to turn it around in the wake of the Kelly decision. LSU has a bye week and then plays at rival Alabama on Nov. 8.
