When you ask who the best player in LSU men’s basketball history was, there is only one correct answer.

“Pistol” Pete Maravich was one of the greatest basketball players in the history of the sport, and on Monday night, the LSU Tigers honored the legend who wore No. 23.

As you can see below, the Tigers unveiled a statue of Maravich outside their basketball arena on Monday:

The Tigers also released the accompanying video on social media to honor Pistol Pete’s legacy:

Maravich was a 2-time National Player of the Year, winning the award in 1969 and 1970. He also led the NCAA in scoring from 1968 to 1970.

He is the all-time leading scorer in Division I history, and did it all without the 3-point arc.
