The New England Patriots drafted Alabama star QB Mac Jones with the No. 15 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Jones will compete with former Auburn QBs Cam Newton and Jarrett Stidham for the starting job entering the 2021 campaign.

On Tuesday, Jones signed his rookie deal with the Patriots, which ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports is worth $15.6 million over 4 years, with an option for a fifth year:

Jones finished third in the 2020 Heisman voting, behind teammate and winner DeVonta Smith and Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence.

With the Patriots using a first-round pick on him, Jones will be expected to contribute soon. Still, Newton could start the 2021 campaign if Jones isn’t ready.
