New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones is likely to miss his second consecutive game this weekend with a high ankle sprain.
Patriots’ QB Mac Jones is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game vs. Lions, putting rookie QB Bailey Zappe in line to make his first NFL start.

Jones started add 17 games last season and threw for 3,801 yards and 22 touchdowns last season. In three starts in 2022 Jones has 786 yards, two touchdowns and five interceptions.
If Jones can’t go it’s expected that rookie Bailey Zappe will get the start. Zappe, a fourth-round pick (137th overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft from Western Kentucky, came in relief of injured backup Brian Hoyer last week against the Green Bay Packers.
Zappe was 10-of-15 for 99 yards and a touchdown in a 27-24 overtime loss to the Packers.
Jones was a first-round pick (15th overall) for the Patriots in the 2021 NFL Draft. He was a Heisman finalist at Alabama after throwing for 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns.
