Former LSU star Marcus Spears is the latest media member to warn of an uproar if Brian Kelly can’t guide the Tigers to the College Football Playoff this season.

Kelly notched back-to-back 10-win seasons and won 9 games last season but LSU is still searching for a spot in the playoffs during his tenure.

The ESPN analyst vividly remembers his time as a Tiger and the passionate fanbase in Death Valley. That’s why Spears is imploring Kelly to do everything in his power to restore LSU back to its previous glory.

“If you don’t win big, if you’re Brian Kelly, this fan base is done…” Spears said. “If they’re on the outside looking in, in the playoffs, this fan base is going to turn quickly on Brian Kelly.”

Here’s a clip of Spears’ comments on ‘Get Up’ on Tuesday morning:

LSU is +130 to make the College Football Playoff this season, per the latest odds from bet365. If you’re interested in placing a bet but haven’t signed up with bet365 yet, here’s a bet365 Louisiana bonus code to help you get started.

LSU hasn’t reached the CFP since winning the national title in 2019 under Ed Orgeron. LSU ended last season with three straight victories, capped off with a 44-31 win vs. Baylor in the Texas Bowl.

LSU is ranked No. 9 in the preseason coaches poll. Kelly won’t get to ease into the season as LSU kicks it off with a matchup at No. 6 Clemson on Aug. 30 (7:30 p.m. ET/ABC).
