Mark Stoops announces injury to Kentucky LB Jordan Jones ahead of Georgia game
A surprise injury has popped up for Kentucky late this week, but it shouldn’t affect who’s on the field when the No. 9 Wildcats take on No. 6 Georgia for the SEC East title on Saturday.
Kentucky coach Mark Stoops told reporters Thursday that senior linebacker Jordan Jones suffered a broken hand in practice this week, though the injury will not cause him to miss this weekend’s game.

The injury doesn’t appear too serious — Stoops felt comfortable enough to jokingly refer to Jones and fellow linebacker Kash Daniel as the “Q-tip brothers” because both will play with a wrapped cast to protect broken hands. Daniel donned such a cast during the Wildcats’ 15-14 win at Missouri last Saturday.
Still, the broken hand comes at a bad time for Jones, who made a season-high 10 tackles last weekend. He’s fifth on the team with 46 total tackles, along with 3.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble.
We’ll see if the injury limits Jones in any way when Kentucky (7-1, 5-1 SEC) hosts the Bulldogs (7-1, 5-1) at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
