Mark Stoops and Kentucky are facing a 3-game losing spell after a hot start to the season, and they’re looking to get things back on track against Mississippi State this weekend.

The Bulldogs have been hit with the injury bug this season. Most notably, quarterback Will Rogers has been out since early October.

Ahead of the meeting between Kentucky and Mississippi State, Stoops had high praise for the way the Bulldogs have been able to manage on offense without consistency at the quarterback spot.

“Mississippi State is a team with the injuries that they’ve had at quarterback has quite a bit of offense,” Stoops said. “With Will Rogers in the passing game, with Mike Wright and the versatility and the dimensions that they’re adding each and every week with him presents a challenge for us.”

Stoops also had high praise for Mississippi State’s defense.

“Defensively, Mississippi State is much like they always are. Very good,” Stoops said. “Very disruptive, very multiple in the things that they do, they make it challenging on protections and on targets in the run game with the way they insert players from the second and third level. It’ll be a very big challenge and historically we haven’t played very well down there, so hopefully we can get that changed and play a bit better here this week.”

Mississippi State will be gunning for a big win this week as it looks to get bowl eligible. With a tough November slate ahead, the Bulldogs are going to have to bring their A-game, but Kentucky will also be ready to put up a big game.
