Kentucky just experienced the best season in program history dating back to the 1970s by going 10-3 overall, with a 5-3 record in Southeastern Conference play, and winning the Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Day by beating Penn State 27-24.

Now the really hard part arrives as Mark Stoops and his Kentucky program confront the challenge of improving on the best season most Wildcat fans can even remember.

That’s something Stoops was asked about recently during his appearance on SiriusXM program “SEC This Morning” with Peter Burns and Chris Doering.

“It’s a real challenge to sustain and take another step,” Stoops said during his appearance on the show. “We are very proud of the fact that the six years we have been here, we are the only program in the country that has never gone backwards. We have either stayed the same or improved every year for the six years and we are the only place that can say that. Now it’s going to be another challenge to take it to another level and that’s what we have to do.”
