No. 10 Texas A&M earned a quality road victory in Week 3 by upsetting Notre Dame 41-40. However, Aggies head coach Mike Elko isn’t resting on his laurels and is pushing his squad to continue to improve during this bye week.

During an appearance at the Touchdown Club of Houston, Elko expressed his thoughts on Texas A&M’s defense.

“I thought our defensive front held up well. We are still a work in progress on defense and I won’t hide from that at all,” Elko said. “There’s a chair in South Bend that shows just how much of a work in progress we are. We’ll continue to grow.”

Texas A&M defeated Notre Dame despite allowing 440 total yards and 9.2 yards per pass. Senior linebacker Scooby Williams was a bright spot with an interception, and senior defensive tackle Albert Regis and junior linebacker Daymion Sanford each had a sack.

Next up for Texas A&M after the bye week is a matchup vs. visiting No. 22 Auburn. Texas A&M leads the all-time series 8-7. However, Auburn won last season’s meeting in a 43-41 shootout at home.

Auburn at Texas A&M is slated for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff on Sept. 27 and will be televised on ESPN.
