Mike Leach reveals who would start at QB for Mississippi State if season started now

The Mississippi State Bulldogs have an ongoing QB battle as the 2021 season quickly approaches.
Many believe incumbent starter Will Rogers will once again win the starting job, but nothing has been made official as of yet.
After practice on Wednesday, coach Mike Leach confirmed that Rogers does currently have the edge and would start if the season began today:
Question: Have you determined a starting quarterback at this point?
Leach: If we were to start today, it would be Will.
Question: What has he done to separate himself?
Leach: Consistency may be the biggest thing. As far as just throwing the ball, they all do a pretty good job with that, and they all have various other physical attributes. But he’s a very committed guy as far as watching film. He has thrown with these guys more than anybody else, although it isn’t as much in an established situation. He provides more consistency. (is there time for anyone else to take the job)…It’s hard to tell. It’s difficult to say. We’ll see.
Can Rogers hold onto that momentum through the end of next week and start Mississippi State’s opener? The Bulldogs begin the year against Louisiana Tech on Saturday, Sept. 4.
