Mississippi State lands commitment from 7-foot center, first pledge of 2023 class

Mississippi State basketball is on the board for 2023. Saturday morning, the Bulldogs landed their first commitment of the class when 7-foot center Gai Chol announced his pledge to play for Chris Jans’ program.

Chol is out of Greenforest Academy in Decatur, Georgia. On the 247Sports Composite, Chol is rated 3-stars, the No. 10 Peach State player, No. 23 center and No. 171 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2023. Ahead of his commitment, Chol named a top 7 of Mississippi State, Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech and Wofford.
Chol first received an MSU scholarship offer from the previous coaching staff in 2021.
