Missouri has lost a member of its defensive back room to the transfer portal.
LJ Hewitt, a sophomore from Florida, announced his decision on Twitter on Wednesday. He joined the team after spending the spring at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Prior to his time at Mississippi Gulf Coast, Hewitt was at Holmes Community College, where he played 9 games.
“I will remain enrolled in classes throughout the remainder of the semester,” he wrote. “My journey is just getting started and I look forward to pursuing a high level of academics and [my] academic career.”
While Hewitt did appear briefly earlier in the season, he was later suspended, per Eli Drinkwitz. The reason from his suspension was undisclosed.
The Tigers are currently 3-4. They travel to South Carolina to face the No. 25 Gamecocks on Saturday.
