Missouri starting quarterback Beau Pribula appeared to suffer a significant lower-leg injury early in the third quarter of Saturday’s game at No. 10 Vanderbilt.

On a fourth-and-goal play from the 2-yard line, Pribula tried to keep it himself and reach the endzone. He was stood up by the Vanderbilt defense and then driven backward by additional tacklers. In the process, it appeared that Pribula’s legs were trapped underneath the pile.

After the play, Pribula stayed down on the field in pain while trainers tended to him. His left leg was eventually placed in an air cast and he was taken off the field on a cart. On the sideline, Pribula was moved into a wheelchair and taken to the locker room.

Mizzou is also without what would have been Pribula’s backup for the game, quarterback Sam Horn, who suffered a season-ending leg injury in the opener.

The Tigers turned to true freshman quarterback Matt Zollers on their next offensive possession. Zollers is a 6-foot-4 quarterback from Royersford, Pennsylvania.

Pribula, a Penn State transfer, helped the Tigers to a 6-1 start this season. Through 7 games, he completed 70% of his passes for 1,617 yards and 11 touchdowns with 7 interceptions. He also had 210 rushing yards and 5 scores on the ground.

Prior to Saturday, Zollers had attempted 6 passes, completing all of them for 75 yards and a score. He saw action in blowout wins over Central Arkansas, Louisiana, and UMass earlier this season.
