The Vanderbilt Commodores are in the middle of their most successful period in over a decade, and this success led to the return of College GameDay to Nashville for the first time since the 2008 season on Saturday.

Comedian and Vanderbilt fan Nate Bargatze was tabbed as the special guest picker for GameDay ahead of the Commodores’ meeting with Mizzou, but he also came to do a bit of recruiting in addition to making his picks.

5-star Georgia quarterback commit and Nashville native Jared Curtis is on campus this weekend for Vanderbilt’s game, and Bargatze took some time to give his recruiting pitch to the elite high school gunslinger.

“It’s hard for me not to remind Jared Curtis how much I would love for him to come to Vanderbilt,” Bargatze said in the middle of picking BYU vs. Iowa State. “We’re both local kids, and we can become best friends, bud.”

As enticing as Bargatze’s pitch may be, the Commodores are more than likely going to have to offer a bit more than his friendship to pull off any potential flip in Curtis’ commitment.

Crazier things have happened in the history of recruiting, though, so Clark Lea and his staff can never be ruled out, especially with all the momentum they have built up with their success on the field.
