Heading into the final weekend of basketball action in the SEC, the league’s teams on the bubble are running out of time to impress the NCAA committee. Those that have yet to seal their fate as an NCAA tournament team will need to finish the season strong in the upcoming SEC Tournament.
So which teams should be the most concerned? The best way to determine that is the NET rankings, which are used by the committee.
If you aren’t familiar with the NET rankings, they were designed to be an improved version of the old RPI rankings.
The NET rankings consist of several factors: a team’s winning percentage, average opponent’s winning percentage, average opponent’s opponent’s winning percentage, game results, strength of schedule, game location, scoring margin, net offensive and defensive efficiency, and the quality of wins and losses.
