NCAA Softball Tournament: Pair of SEC programs eliminated

The NCAA Softball Tournament is in the midst of Super Regionals, and a pair of SEC programs were eliminated Saturday.
First, the Arkansas Razorbacks lost to the Texas Longhorns 3-0 in Saturday’s rubber match. The Razorbacks left numerous runners in scoring position and couldn’t string together the necessary timely hits to knock off the Longhorns. Texas scored all 3 runs in the top of the 6th inning.
It was Arkansas best season in program history, as the Razorbacks racked up their first-ever SEC regular season championship and the SEC tournament championship. It was a season to remember in Fayetteville, and ultimately, Arkansas fell just one win shy of reaching the ultimate goal of playing in the Women’s College World Series.
Arkansas finishes the season 48-11.
Second, the Mississippi State Bulldogs were swept by the Arizona Wildcats. Saturday’s result was 7-1. MSU reached its first-ever Super Regional after ousting No. 2 seed Florida State in the Tallahassee Regional last weekend.
MSU fans broke the attendance record at Nusz Park with 2,299; however, Arizona’s 7-run 4th inning was too much for the Bulldogs to overcome.
Arizona advances to the Women’s College World Series for the 25th time in program history. Mississippi State finishes the season 37-27.
