Blaine Gabbert isn’t going anywhere.
For the first time since the 2016 NFL season, Gabbert will be returning to the same team as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Monday that the team has resigned the quarterback.
Last season, Gabbert completed nine of 16 pass attempts for 143 yards and two touchdowns backing up Tom Brady during the team’s run to the Super Bowl title.
During the 2021 NFL Draft, the Bucs drafted Florida quarterback Kyle Trask, which put some doubt into Gabbert’s future in Tampa Bay but it appears the two signal-callers will now battle it out for the backup role behind Brady in 2021.
Gabbert was the 10th overall selection in the 2011 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars out of Missouri. For his NFL career, Gabbert has passed for 9,206 yards with 50 touchdowns and 47 interceptions.
Gabbert played just three seasons in Jacksonville before moving on to San Francisco, Arizona, Tennessee, and now Tampa Bay.
