Nick Chubb picked up his first rushing score of the season during the fourth quarter of the Houston Texans’ Monday Night Football matchup vs. the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Georgia product’s impressive 25-yard rushing touchdown put the Texans ahead 19-14 with 2:10 left in the game. However, the Buccaneers came back to win the game 20-19.
The 5-foot-11 Chubb is in his first season with the Texans after spending 7 seasons with the Cleveland Browns. The Browns picked Chubb in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
The 29-year-old Chubb is a 4-time Pro Bowler who amassed 6,843 yards and 51 touchdowns on the ground as a member of the Browns. Chubb is third in Browns history in rushing yards behind only Jim Brown (12,312) and Leroy Kelly (7,274). From 2019-2022, Chubb recorded at least 1,000+ yards and 8+ rushing touchdowns each season.
Chubb had a rough final couple of seasons in Cleveland. He sustained a torn MCL and damaged ACL in 2023. In 2024, Chubb broke his foot. The Texans rolled the dice on Chubb this offseason with a 1-year, $2.5 million deal, which has a max value of $5 million.
Chubb was a First-team All SEC member and SEC Freshman of the Year in 2014 and in 2017 earned Second-team All-SEC.
