Nick Saban had an interaction with a former player go viral following Alabama’s win over LSU on Saturday, and on Thursday he cleared up the comments he made.
After the game, Saban had a conversation with wide receiver Aaron Anderson, who transferred from Alabama to play for his home state at LSU. Saban told Anderson, “You’d be playing more here than you are there,” and the pair shared a laugh.
Saban clarified his comments on the Pat McAfee Show on Thursday. Saban didn’t mean to take a shot at Anderson or LSU, he was just recognizing the level of player that Anderson has become.
“Aaron would’ve been playing a lot of football for us this year,” Saban said. “He’s an outstanding player. He’s a fine young man. We were happy to get him in recruiting. We hated to see him go. … The guy is from Louisiana, so I get it.”
Anderson has not seen very many snaps this season, recording just 59 yards on 12 receptions, playing behind a talented group of receivers at LSU. Perhaps he would have played more at Alabama, but it probably was worth it to return to his home state.
