The Alabama Crimson Tide are completely remaking their secondary this year after losing Minkah Fitzpatrick, Ronnie Harrison, Tony Brown, Levi Wallace, Anthony Averett and others from last year’s title-winning squad.

This won’t be an easy task for coach Nick Saban, who specializes in coaching defensive backs, but it’s a necessity if the Tide want to defend their title.

With Week 1 quickly approaching, Saban said his new-look secondary is improving, but there’s still a long way to go:

Naturally, the Tide have plenty of highly rated recruits to replace the departed players, but it takes time to mold them into a functioning unit.

Will they be ready to go for Week 1 against Louisville? Find out on Saturday at 8 p.m. Eastern time when the Tide take on the Cardinals in Orlando. The game can be seen on ABC.
