Nick Saban and No. 11 Alabama will have a big challenge against visiting rival No. 17 Tennessee in Week 8.

A strong performance from quarterback Jalen Milroe could go a long way towards securing revenge after the Vols defeated Alabama in Knoxville last season.

This will be Milroe’s first taste of the rivalry as a starter. Saban previously benched Milroe for the game against South Florida but the sophomore has impressed him since then.

Milroe has passed for 1,397 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions this season.

“He has a better understanding of the expectation for him,” Saban said during a recent press conference. “In terms of how he influences and impacts the offense through his execution. So I think that has developed a lot more confidence and I think that he has to continue to grow and develop the ability to sort of be able to sustain.”

Saban added that there’ll still be ups and downs but he’s proud of the strides made by Milroe.

“Nobody can play perfect, so there’s going to be some bumps in the road that you have to go through, but how you manage those I think is really, really important,” Saban said. “And I think that’s something that he’s gotten much better at as well and I think that’s critical at the quarterback position because everybody else on the offensive team is kind of looking to you for that kind of confidence and ability to execute.”

Tennessee at Alabama is slated for a 3:30 p.m. EST kickoff and will be televised on CBS.
