Alabama’s defense, particularly the linebackers, has been decimated by injuries this year, with several key players missing time.

On Saturday, it was the offense’s turn to take a hit, as OL Ross Pierschbacher went down with an apparent ankle injury.

After the game, coach Nick Saban provided an update on the redshirt junior, saying he has a high ankle sprain. He also added that Pierschbacher will undergo an MRI to make sure there’s no further damage (via 247Sports):

“Ross Pierschbacher has a high ankle sprain,” Saban said. “We’ll do an MRI on him in the morning and probably learn how long he’ll be out. But I don’t think there’s anybody else — I mean we’ve got a couple other guys nicked up that Doc will evaluate tomorrow, and then we’ll go from there.”

Obviously, the Crimson Tide will be hoping for the best, as Pierschbacher is a key part of their offensive line. If he’s out, it’s bad news for the Alabama running game.

How long he’s out remains to be seen, but Saban will probably have some more answers later this week.
