Northern Illinois’ radio booth had a memorable call at the end of the Huskies’ 16-14 upset win over Notre Dame on Saturday.

Notre Dame lined up for a potential game-winning 62-yard field goal as it looked to hold off NIU’s bid at a stunning win. But a Huskies player came up with the block to seal an improbable victory over the Fighting Irish, the first win over a Top 10 opponent in program history.

Here’s how it sounded on the NIU radio call from Andy Garcia:

While it’s certainly a tough loss for Notre Dame, the raw emotion from the NIU radio crew is understandable. And the Huskies were rewarded for their win with their first national ranking since 2013: the AP poll has ranked them No. 25. Meanwhile, the Fighting Irish plummeted to No. 18.

NIU hosts Buffalo after a bye week. Notre Dame is in action during Week 3 as it travels to face B1G team Purdue.
