Ole Miss just landed a major defensive prospect from the Class of 2026. 4-star linebacker JaMichael Garrett is committing to the Rebels, according to Rivals. The Baton Rouge native picked Ole Miss over offers from LSU, Tennessee, and Clemson.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Garrett is rated on the 247Sports Composite as the No. 9 linebacker and No. 8 player in Louisiana. Garrett explained to Rivals what made Ole Miss a desirable spot.
Ole Miss, they do a good job at building relationships and making you feel like a priority,” Garrett said to Rivals. “Obviously, they just lost a linebacker in their class. Guy that flipped over seven to eight times, so just knowing that they want loyalty and they have stability.
With Lane Kiffin at the helm, who previously served at Alabama under Nick Saban, Garrett believes Ole Miss’ staff has the requisite wisdom to unlock his full potential. Last season as a junior, Garrett racked up 91 total tackles.
Two coaches that coached under Nick Saban, and just knowing that Nick Saban, one of the greatest coaches to coach in college football, wanted them guys a part of the staff,” Garrett said. “Then they dispersed out to start their own program, which has been very successful.
With Garrett on board, Ole Miss now has 18 commitments in its 2026 class, which is ranked No. 20 nationally on the Composite.
