The end of the Lane Kiffin era at Ole Miss has unsurprisingly been one of the most tumultuous and chaotic exits any coach has ever had from a major college football program.

After weeks of speculation, reports surfaced on Sunday morning that the sixth-year head coach of the Rebels was expected to depart from the program he just led to an 11-1 record and College Football Playoff berth to become the new head coach at LSU.

Adding to the intrigue of this insane series of events is a report from On3’s Pete Nakos that Ole Miss players were required to turn in their personal cell phones before a scheduled team meeting with Kiffin.

By all available accounts, Kiffin and the brass in Oxford had a very unpleasant split, and there appears to be some very bad blood between all parties involved due to how things were handled.

Given everything that has already taken place, it’s pretty apparent that neither party wants to take any chances that anything said during Kiffin’s last team meeting ever in Oxford ends up leaking onto social media.

This is probably the safest course of action in light of the circus that has already been created around his departure for Baton Rouge.
