Ole Miss wants to send senior class out with a bowl appearance

This year’s Ole Miss senior class has overseen a golden era of Rebels football.
In addition to two wins over Alabama, the players who graduate in 2016 will have made appearances in two-straight New Year’s Six bowl games.
However, this season has been fraught with adversity. The Rebels are 5-6 heading into Saturday afternoon’s Egg Bowl rivalry game against Mississippi State.
On Monday, coach Hugh Freeze told The Clarion-Ledger he wants to honor the senior class with one last bowl game, even if it’s not as prestigious as those of the last two years:
“There’s no doubt they have rejuvenated and made Ole Miss football relevant again,” Hugh Freeze said.
“Unfortunately, it’s a what have you done for me lately society,” Freeze said. “So some will choose to put emphasis on disappointing season … but the totality of what they’ve (the seniors) done here, you can’t argue. That’s what they should be remembered for.”
The four-year seniors on this year’s team have won 32 total games in their collegiate careers, good for second place on the Ole Miss all-time list.
The Rebel seniors will go for win No. 33 on Saturday afternoon in the Egg Bowl. The game kicks off at 2:30 p.m. Central time and can be seen on the SEC Network.
