Over the line? Leonard Fournette destroys former teammates while discussing Tom Brady

Former LSU star Leonard Fournette may have said what others were thinking, but it still may have gone over the line in the teammate department.

Fournette, who recently landed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after he was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars, candidly shared his thoughts on quarterbacks he has played with in his career because he is now paired with future Hall of Famer Tom Brady.

Speaking with Greg Auman of The Athletic, Fournette said, “For the first time in my life, I really have a quarterback.”

To be fair, Fournette’s other QBs are not exactly headed to a Hall of Fame anytime soon. There’s Jaguars quarterbacks Blake Bortles, Cody Kessler and Gardner Minshew, and former LSU QBs Anthony Jennings, Brandon Harris and Danny Etling.

The other important variable to keep in mind is the other talent around him. At LSU, and at times with Jacksonville, Fournette was largely the defense’s main focus.

But with Tampa Bay having Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Rob Gronkowski and O.J. Howard as teammates and receivers for Brady, Fournette will likely be seeing fewer defenders near the line of scrimmage than he has in the past.

If that pays off in increased production, the upside of getting cut will likely outweigh any negatives.
