Kentucky’s offense got off to a strong start in Saturday’s season opener against UL Monroe, and the Wildcats had no trouble getting the ball around to numerous playmakers. In fact, they even achieved a feat that the program hadn’t seen in nearly a decade.

Wide receivers Wan’Dale Robinson and Josh Ali not only both got into the end zone, but they each had more than 100 receiving yards. According to ESPN’s Brandon Zimmerman, it was the first time that Kentucky had 2 receivers reach the 100-yard mark in the same game since Nov. 5, 2011.

The last time it happened, Matt Roark (7 catches for 116 yards) and La’Rod King (3 catches for 102 yards and a touchdown) led Kentucky to a 30-13 win over Ole Miss.

On Saturday, it didn’t take long for Robinson and Ali to put up big numbers. Through 3 quarters, Robinson had 5 catches for 125 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Ali had 5 receptions for 136 yards and 1 touchdown.

Although UL Monroe isn’t the strongest opponent, it’s still a good sign that Kentucky’s passing attack is having so much success early in the season. It could bode well for the Wildcats later in the year as junior quarterback Will Levis will look to keep connecting with his receivers for big plays.

With Robinson and Ali leading the way, Kentucky had a 28-7 lead at halftime. It extended its advantage to 31-7 late in the third quarter.
