The Auburn and Kentucky men’s basketball teams are currently trending in opposite directions.
The latest AP Top 25 poll was released on Monday, and the Tigers and Wildcats each moved multiple positions. Auburn moved up four spots to No. 8, while Kentucky fell 13 spots to No. 19.
The Tigers are 11-0 this season after notching wins over NC State and Lehigh this past week. They have only one more non-conference game — Sunday vs. Lipscomb — before beginning SEC play with a matchup at Mississippi State on Jan. 4.
It hasn’t been as strong of a start to the season for Kentucky. The Wildcats lost two games this past week to fall to 8-3, as they were defeated by Utah and Ohio State, which is now ranked No. 2 in the AP poll.
Kentucky will look to get back on track with a home matchup vs. No. 3 Louisville on Saturday before it starts conference play with a home contest vs. Missouri on Jan. 4.
