Pat McAfee has really enjoyed working on College GameDay and especially with Lee Corso. He explained why on Monday’s edition of The Pat McAfee Show.

McAfee’s grandparents either didn’t have much of a relationship with him, or passed away while he was young or before he was born. Therefore, McAfee has never really been around people of that generation.

“Three of my grandparents died. My grandma on my dad’s side passed when my dad was like 16, so I never met her. Grandma on my mom’s side passed when I was like 12,” McAfee said. “Grandpa on that side, never really close, but earlier than that. Then my grandpa on my dad’s side, good guy, didn’t really hang around him much. I’ve never really been around old people.”

McAfee has appreciated getting to know Corso and learning about everything that the longtime member of GameDay has done in life.

“Coach Corso was the first older person that I’ve hung out with on a regular basis,” said McAfee. “I feel like I’ve missed out not having a chance to talk to somebody that’s lived through everything basically and just like little tidbits. … It was cool to see Coach Corso get his flowers. I wonder if he’ll ever just take a moment and be like, ‘I did it.'”

Corso has been around football for a long time, and there’s plenty to be learned from him.
