Report: Patriots DB, former Vanderbilt standout, arrested in Nashville

New England Patriots cornerback Joejuan Williams hasn’t had the best start to his offseason.
The former Vanderbilt standout was arrested on January 17 in Cumberland County, Tennessee, for speeding, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drugs without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to USA Today.
Williams was stopped for speeding on I-40 when a trooper found the paraphernalia and prescription drugs inside his 2016 Land Rover, per the report. He became the second Patriots player to be arrested this month. Receiver Julian Edelman was arrested for misdemeanor vandalism for jumping over a hood of a car and causing damage in Beverly Hills.
The Patriots drafted Williams in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft (45th overall). The 6-foot-3 cornerback was buried on the Patriots depth chart and played in just nine games making five tackles. During his three-year Vanderbilt career, Williams made 119 tackles and four INTs.
If found guilty, he’ll likely face punishment from the NFL for violating the league’s collectively bargained policy covering substances of abuse.
